In which Nijimura tries telling a story to a bunch of kids. Kids who are only a year younger but that was beside the point. The point was he was trying; it's kind of hard to narrate a children's story when one keeps getting interrupted. But Nijimura supposes he doesn't mind getting interrupted — if it meant holding his team together for a little bit longer, he'd gladly retell it a thousand more times.
Note: Set in the same universe as Flirt like a Rainbow and When all is Fair Game, although this can be read on its own. This is the last installment of the oneshots in this universe. Please check the description below after reading this story for some announcements about the multi-chapter fic I'll be writing that is based on this universe.

Nijimura has this talent in sensing the atmosphere of a room he enters into. And although not as adept as Akashi's talent in sensing people's talent, Nijimura could easily tell someone's current mood.

In this case, the mood inside the court is nothing but hostile.

Nijimura had a feeling way back that this was inevitable. His first years (he secretly refers to them as his because he can't help but act like a big brother when he's the captain and the only senpai in the line-up) are growing up and their strong personalities couldn't help but clash against each other. Haizaki and Kise were arguing loudly, chiding each other that themselves are better and more reliable than the other. Murasakibara and Kuroko were at each other's throats, one step behind before they'd resort to physical violence; Midorima and Aomine were ready to pull the pair away from each other if Murasakibara ever so much lift his fist against Kuroko. Momoi watches helplessly. And Akashi… Akashi watches as well, fist clenched tight as he holds himself back from the fray.

Nijimura had half a mind to call the practice off, seeing clearly that nothing good is going to happen at this rate.

"A little help..."

The voice was soft and the words were not shouted. And yet, it was enough for the first years to stop bickering and glance by the entrance. Nijimura was already by the door. He offered his hands and took the heavy load from you. It was a basket, no doubt filled with food for the team.

You smiled gratefully. "Thanks, Shuu-kun."

"I told you to wait up at your classroom," Nijimura frowned. "I was supposed to carry that for you from there to here."

You shrugged. "It's not so bad. Plus I want to see the practice." You made a little grin and added in a whisper, "I heard it was a perfect attendance today and I didn't want to miss that."

Nijimura sighed. "There's not much to see. They're all ready to kill." He glared at Haizaki and Kise's direction, where the pair were elbowing each other to continue their stupid fight. "These two are going to be the death of me, I swear. Or the reason I went to jail because of murder."

"Shuu-kun…" you frowned at him until he raised his free hand up as if to tell you he didn't really mean it. Your eyes softened. "Let's do damage control then."

"(L.name)-senpai~!"

"(L.name)-chin..."

Like a pair, Kise and Murasakibara were out of their fight and standing rather excitedly in front of you. Murasakibara turned to Nijimura and smiled in the most docile way. "Captain~ let me carry the basket, please?"

Nijimura wanted to laugh at the sudden 180 degree change of attitude. He bit back the amused smile and opted to scoff. "Knock yourself out, kiddo. Just don't forget to share."

"Thank you for the food~!" Murasakibara said in a sing song voice before skipping away. Nijimura couldn't help but laugh this time.

"Oi, Murasakibara, captain said you share the food!"

"Nu-uh, Mine-chin~"

Ah, there goes today's snacks. Not a minute later and Haizaki was running after Aomine and Murasakibara, with the obvious intention of getting his share of the food as well.

"(L.name)-senpai, I learned a new move today so you're going to watch me, ok?" Kise's excited voice brought back Nijimura's attention away from Aomine's group.

"That's great, Kise-kun. I'm looking forward for today's practice then."

"You and me both," Nijimura added. "Maybe with you here, practice would actually start. Right, Kise?"

"A-ah, yeah.." Kise laughed nervously, feeling guilty all of a sudden from his childish behavior against Haizaki moments ago. "Sorry, captain."

Nijimura merely nodded to acknowledge the apology. He waited for Kise to run back to the group before clearing his throat loudly. "Everyone, fall in!" he used his captain voice, and just like a charm, everyone run to his side obediently. Even Haizaki, with a sour expression on his face that he couldn't reach Murasakibara holding the basket up away from anyone. Nijimura glared and it was all it took for everyone to stand up a litter straighter. Haizaki stopped reaching. Murasakibara swallowed the snack on his mouth quickly.

"Captain!" they all chorused. It was as if the ruckus moments ago didn't happen.

Nijimura nodded with authority before beckoning to Momoi to come forward. She quickly jogged to their side and flipped her clipboard. "Y-yes.. uhm, the training menu for today," she started, her voice a bit nervous from standing beside Nijimura looking so.. well, scary. She stiffened when a hand squeezed her arm. Gentle. She peeked and saw you smiling encouragingly at her. She relaxed and smile back. "First, for Akashi-kun..."

As per Nijimura's instruction, he told everyone to do their menu's separately and forego the team practice today. He ignored Kise's face falling like a kicked puppy, clearly betrayed that he wouldn't get to show his new cool moves. Considering what happened earlier, Nijimura doubted progress will be made if the first years are grouped again.

Nijimura, however, didn't object when Akashi suggested to double the menu to compensate for the lack of group practice. He made a point to ignore the collective groan from the group. He did note though to keep an eye on Kuroko. The boy stopped puking after some time, except when their menu's increased by a spike; Kuroko always had a hard time adjusting.

Practice started and for the longest time, the sound of shoes squeaking against the court, the incessant dribbling of the ball, and the ragged breathes of the players were the only noise inside the gym. Momoi watched everyone attentively, walking around and making notes from everyone's progress. You followed her around, observing her how she does her job as manager.

"(L.name)-senpai," Momoi whispered, her eyes not leaving Aomine and Haizaki having a silent competition who could run faster (it can't be helped). The only indication that her attention wasn't fully on the two players was her pause in writing. "I'm worried for everyone."

"Aren't we always?" you asked back softly, although your eyes never left the court as well. You couldn't help but smile in amusement when Aomine's eyes glanced at your direction for the briefest instant and suddenly, his speed picked up immensely and outpaced the Haizaki easily, the latter gawking at disbelief at the sudden burst of energy from the former.

"But I'm more worried lately," Momoi's voice got quieter. You noticed the change in her voice and when you turned to look at her, you saw her looking down on the floor, her arms hugging her clipboard tightly. "They're fighting a lot more, you know? Tetsu-kun always eases the team but lately, even he gets into picking fights with Mukkun."

You were silent for a moment, at a loss on how Momoi is clearly distressed at this. "I'm sorry Momoi-chan, but I don't have any answer as well. I'm worried too." You put your hand on her shoulder and offered a sad smile. "But that only means we have to do our best in this situation and enjoy what we have right now. In times like this, we have to be stronger for everyone. Especially for our boys, right?"

Our boys. You liked the sound of that. Momoi seems to like it as well because she finally smiled, albeit weakly. "Right. Let's do our best in supporting the team, (L.name)-senpai."

You nodded and looked thoughtful. Other than words, what more can you do? Even if it only amounted to a small thing, a few more moments of being together, you're more than willing to do it for the team.

You watched as Midorima and Kise coincidentally took a break at the same time. They were on the other side of the gym and seem to be talking. Midorima looked disapproving as ever but at least he wasn't agitating Kise. Kise did some motions in his arms, mimicking a shooting form, and Midorima instantly forgone his grumpy face and looked very much attentive. He brought his hand up and adjusted Kise's forearm. Kise's eyes widened and he beamed. Midorima huffed and went back to his grouchy mode. Still, Kise continued to sport a grin on his face as they both went back to the court to continue their menu.

At the very least, they weren't so hostile at each other outside of court.

That's it!

You almost stumbled on your steps. "Momoi-chan," you gasped softly, still bewildered at your newfound discovery. "I have an idea that could help."

Momoi paused her note taking and was in full attention as soon as the words left your lips. "I'm all ears, senpai."

"It's like this. Whenever they're inside the court, their personalities get really impossible to handle. But what about outside? They're at least manageable, right? I was thinking, if we could get them to at least agree outside the court, maybe the tension would decrease in some way."

"Ah, senpai, I thought of that," Momoi replied, a little crestfallen. "But I'm not sure if it'd work on Dai— I mean, Aomine-kun. Even outside of court, all he talks about is basketball. And if Ki-chan and Midorin ever hears Aomine-kun talk about basketball, the two would start arguing about dunks and three-pointers and… you get the idea."

Momoi's reply was disheartening but you didn't want to give up that easily. "Then let's make sure Aomine-kun won't talk about basketball."

"And how are we going to do that, (L.name)-senpai?"

You thought about possible ideas, your eyes getting unfocused. At some point, it caught Nijimura directing Aomine, Kise, Kuroko, and Akashi away, with Kuroko dragging Aomine. Haizaki paled as Nijimura slung his arm around his shoulder, a scary smirk gracing on the captain's face.

You smiled. "Leave it to me, Momoi-chan."

-

Nijimura opened and closed his mouth, debating whether or not he should ask. He looked at you rather suspiciously as you continue to smile at him, your hands pressed on his chest. He would have liked that, the pressing (and not because he is a pervert, thank you very much), if there wasn't something else between your hands and his chest. Besides his shirt of course; Definitely not a pervert.

It was a book, thin in pages and with a glossy cover. It probably only had twenty leaves at the most. Nijimura furrowed his eyebrows. "Uh, what am I supposed to do again, (F.name)?"

You continued to smile. Nijimura scowled internally. His suspicions are correct: Akashi has definitely corrupted you with his scheming ways! You hummed pleasantly, ignoring his suspicious tone of voice. "I want you to read this to the team, Shuu-kun."

"… but why?"

"Because I heard from the other clubs that it improves temperament," you answered briskly. He didn't look convinced. You pushed the book a little bit harder, "Shuu-kun, the team needs this, trust me. It will help lessen the fighting."

Nijimura reluctantly took the book from your hands and peered at it. It was in English. He made a face. "I can't read this," he commented, his cheeks tinging the slightest red at the embarrassing confession. That was not true; he can read English. He just has a weird accent. No way he's going to embarrass himself before the first years. He didn't quite trust Haizaki, Murasakibara, Aomine and Kise's reactions.

"Yes you can," you insisted, pouting your lips unconsciously — a habit you picked up ever since you started dating Nijimura. "And you don't have to read it aloud in English. You just need to read the story to them." When he didn't reply, you added in a soft whisper, "please Shuu-kun..? For me?"

Nijimura blushed and glared halfheartedly at your forming victorious grin. "You're so unfair, (F.name)."

"Thank you, Shuu-kun," you laughed, kissing his lips lightly. "I love you too."

-

"We're gathered here today—"

"Wait, did someone died?"

"Someone definitely will if you continue to interrupt me."

Kise paled considerably and hid behind Aomine, who looked clearly uncomfortable at being the target of Nijimura's glare instead. He elbowed Kise and shoved him back in front. Kise yelped but made no more sound, too afraid of actually incurring the wrath of their captain.

Kise spared a glance at a rather beat up Haizaki over Kuroko's shoulders. He shuddered. Yup, definitely not defying the captain today.

When Nijimura was sure he's not going to get more interruptions, he continued. "As I was saying, we're gathered here today because," he paused, suddenly realizing the next words are going to be cheesy. He thought how he's going to word it better but came up with nothing. He scowled. "Whatever. You're all here because we're going to bond together."

There was a moment of silence before Midorima raised his hand. "Excuse me, captain, but I don't see the point of bonding. Or teamwork, for that matter."

Before Kuroko could open his mouth to politely interject, Nijimura beat him to it. "This is not about teamwork. Kuroko, close your mouth." Kuroko promptly sank back. "This is about you guys getting into stupid fights against each other and hindering our practice." Nijimura looked at each of them, daring to defy him.

Akashi raised his hand this time. Of course, Nijimura thought dryly. "What's the activity then?" Nijimura blinked, clearly surprised that Akashi complied. "I asked about this to (L.name)-senpai but she was insistent at me to wait for your instructions."

That, Nijimura wasn't surprised. He did tried to ignore how you're picking up not only Akashi's skill of persuasion, but also Kuroko's talent of evading; he took note that he had to find you some other company besides the basketball team. Clearly, the first years are bad influences on you.

As to answer Akashi's question, Nijimura brought out a book from his bag. "I'm going to read this and you're all going to listen."

Murasakibara made a displeased sound but other than that, kept silent. Aomine, unfortunately, didn't. "That's boring, captain. I came here to play basketball, not listen to a story."

"You're going to listen, Ahomine, or so help me you'll be in a worse state than Haizaki."

"Shutting up, captain."

Everyone went stiff. Nijimura sighed and counted to ten. He replayed your instructions. 'Be nice, Shuu-kun. Let them relax for a change.' He opened the book reluctantly. The things he does for you, really. "Come over. It has pictures. Yes, Haizaki, you too. I promise I won't punch you again today."

They all looked clearly hesitant, but one by one, they all shuffled in their seats and moved behind Nijimura who was sitting on the bench. Kuroko and Akashi sat beside Nijimura. Kise stood behind Kuroko, his whole frame leaning and his head rested on the latter's head. Aomine stood behind Kise, not quite sure if he could peer over Nijimura's shoulder. Midorima stood mirroring Kise, standing behind Akashi, although he was standing stiffly as ever. Murasakiba loomed behind all of them, not so subtly squishing himself between Midorima and Aomine. And Haizaki… well, Nijimura pulled him in front, not trusting this first year to look for an escape if given a chance; Haizaki sat in front of Nijimura, holding the book as per Nijimura's very threatening request.

"Right, now everyone's here, let's get this over with. If we get this successfully, (F.name) promised to bring lunch next practice." Everyone went suddenly quiet and attentive after Nijimura's words left him. He couldn't help but smirk as he flipped to the first page. If what he uses over the first years is effective fear, yours is definitely effective bribery.

The Three Little Pigs

By Nijimura Shuuzo (and 'others')

Once upon a time, there was a mother pig who had three little pigs.
"Three? But we're seven, captain," Akashi commented, looking at the picture.

Nijimura didn't know what Akashi was getting at. There were clearly four pigs in the picture and one is a female mother pig. "Akashi, I'm quite sure there were only three."

Akashi looked thoughtful. "I see… are there more characters to be revealed?"

"I guess…?"

Akashi looked satisfied. "Then please continue, captain."

… for a while, the family lived peacefully in their little house. One day, the three little pigs grew so big that their mother had to tell them, "You are too big to live here any longer. You must go and build houses for yourselves. But take care that the wolf does not catch you."

"Captain, I don't believe (L.name)-senpai would drive us out for such a shallow reason," Kuroko said, his eyes giving away the slightest hint that he was upset at the thought.

Nijimura didn't really understand why he keeps getting cut. Who knew the first years would be so engrossed at this? Is the story really interesting or the bribe of a good lunch really effective? Nijimura found himself playing along and answering Kuroko's concern. "I think what the mother pig said here is something like her children has to grow up at some point."

When Kuroko didn't look convinced, Akashi intervened. "It is for the best, Kuroko. But not to worry, once I build my house, I'll make sure to let (L.name)-senpai live with me."

The last comment didn't sit well with Nijimura. At all. "Like I'd let you live with (F.name)."

"Forgive me, captain, but there is no father figure here so I assume the dad died at some point before. Someone has to take care of (L.name)-senpai when you're gone, correct? Therefore, I am confident I am more than adequate."

Nijimura didn't have a comeback for that, mostly because he is beyond confused how did this turned out like this.

Kuroko, however, didn't look unfazed. "May I ask who are the three little pigs here?"

"That would be Aomine, Kise, and me," Akashi replied easily.

"And me?"

"You, Kuroko, are the phantom fourth little pig."

Nijimura was pretty sure there is no such thing as a phantom fourth little pig.

"Does this mean I stayed with (L.name)-senpai?"

Akashi shook his head. "No, Kuroko. You followed us in our journey to build houses."

Kuroko didn't look pleased at Akashi's answer but didn't protest as Nijimura cleared his throat to go back to the story. They're taking way too long in the first page.

Numerous discussions later, the mother pig send her piglets off. "We will take care that the wolf does not catch us," they chorused before beginning their journey.

Soon, they met a man carrying some straws.

"Today's lucky item for Cancer is straws, nanodayo," Midorima interrupted this time.

Nijimura paused appropriately. He's starting to get it, at least. "So you're the peddler?"

"Obviously," Midorima replied, readjusting his glasses. "I make sure to carry my lucky item everyday with diligence as my horoscope said. That's why my shots never miss."

Nijimura didn't want this to go back to basketball, else it'd go back to fighting. He quickly went back to the book.

"Please will you give me some straw?" asked the first little pig. "I want to build a house for myself."

"Certainly not," Midorima said. "This is my lucky item. I have more use to it than you."

"Come on, Midorimacchi," Kise pouted at the other side. "I need it to build my house!"

"All the more reason not to give it," Midorima looked upset. "Go die!"

"All right, no fighting or no lunch from (F.name) tomorrow!" Nijimura shouted to drown out the forming bicker. The two quieted down. "Midorima, you give the damn straws to Kise and I'm not taking no for an answer. You can leave some for yourself."

"Can Kise at least pay me, nanodayo?"

"… fine."

The peddler agreed to give some straw if the first little pig paid some money, which the first little pig did. Then, the first little pig built himself a house of straw. He was very pleased with his house. He said, "Now the wolf won't catch me and eat me."

"That's a very shitty house," Aomine commented. "I'll definitely built a better one than that."

"For once, I agree with you Aomine," Akashi added.

"Amazing," Nijimura said. "That's more or less the next part." He flipped to the next page.

The second little pig and third little pig

"And the phantom fourth little pig, captain… if you please."

"Kurokocchi, you're not going to stay with my house of straws?"

"No, Kise-kun. I don't want to get eaten by the wolf."

"You don't have faith in me! Wa—"

"Kise, shut up."

"Yes, captain!"

… together with the phantom fourth little pig, went along the road. Soon they met a man who was carrying some sticks.

"Why are you all looking at me like that, nanodayo?"

Haizaki, this time, answered. "Well, we figured if there's anyone carrying weird items around, it'd be you."

"I told you my lucky item is a straw, not sticks."

"Maybe this is the next day," Kuroko explained. "Kise-kun did built a house."

"Please, will you give me some sticks ?" asked the second little pig. "I want to build a house for myself."

"Go die!"

"I take that as a no," Nijimura said dryly as he watched Midorima and Aomine glaring at each other.

"Tch! Like I need your sticks!"

Because the narrator said so, the peddler gave the second little pig some sticks after the second little pig gave him some money. Neither objected to this arrangement, although I like to see them try.

Then, the second little pig built himself a house of sticks. It was stronger than the house of straws. Huh… no shit.

"Of course it's going to be better," Aomine rolled his eyes, dropping the fight between him and Midorima. "The only one who can build a better house than me is me."

Besides the completely unnecessary and stupid remark, the second little pig was very pleased with his house. He said, "Now the wolf won't catch me and eat me."

"I shall build a stronger house than yours for I am absolute," said the third little pig.

Akashi looked pleased. "Do go on, captain."

The third little pig walked on, along the road, alone this— with the phantom fourth little pig, I mean. The third little pig is not alone. Soon, they met a man carrying some bricks.

"Give me your bricks," Akashi said as he turned around to Midorima. "You will name your price."

"Hmph, like I have a choice with you."

The man gave the third little pig some bricks after the third little pig gave the man some… oh wait. Akashi, you didn't give Midorima some money, right? The peddler gave the bricks to the third little pig, then went on his way.

Then, the third little pig built himself a house of bricks. Hopefully, the phantom fourth little pig helped the third little pig because that is one hard house to built. Do you guys even have cement?

"Don't worry, captain. I helped," Kuroko said. "I made an extra room for me in that house."

"Nothing less from Kuroko," Akashi agreed. "Please make a spare room as well for (L.name)-senpai."

… The third little pig was very pleased with his house. He said, "Now the wolf won't catch me and eat me."

The next day, the wolf came along the road.

"Captain, why did you stop?" Kuroko asked.

Nijimura blinked twice before snapping out of it. He didn't realize he paused. He scratched his head. "I guess it's because I was waiting for someone to interrupt me. Who's the wolf?"

"Don't look at me," Haizaki grumbled. "I'm not playing along here." This earned him a whack on the head. "But I don't want to be the wolf!"

"Hn.. can I be the wolf?" Murasakibara's voice stopped Nijimura from hitting Haizaki again. He smiled as he licked his lips. "He's going to eat the piggies right? I'm craving for bacon right now."

"I don't want to get eaten by Murasakibaracchi!" Kise wailed. "Kurokocchi help!"

"Get off me, Kise-kun. You're heavy."

"Oi! Stop fighting, idiots! I need to know the ending!" Aomine shouted over everyone, his eyes focused on the page of the book. Everyone went silent, although more of shock because it was Aomine, of all people. Still, Nijimura will get anything to continue the story.

The wolf first came to the house of straw which the first little pig built. When the first little pig saw the wolf coming, he ran inside his house and shut the door.

"Wow, just like Kise," Aomine commented, ignoring the whine from the blonde. Kise, however, made it a point to inch away from Murasakibara as the latter was looking too pleased.

The wolf knocked on the door and said, "Little pig, little pig, let me come in."

Did Murasakibara's eyes just flicked across Kise?! "Kurokocchi!!" Kise wailed louder, too absorbed in the story to be reprimanded that this was neither real nor a horror story.

"No, no," said the first little pig. "By the hair of my chinny chin chin, I will not let you come in."

"That sounds more like Murasakibara than Kise," Midorima commented. No one replied, nor did they paid attention as Kise bolted away with Murasakibara chasing after him not far behind.

Chin, chin, chin indeed.

"Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in," said the wolf. So he huffed and he puffed and he huffed and he puffed. The house of straw fell down and the wolf ate up the first little pig.

"Captain!! Waah!"

Aomine was on the floor laughing hysterically as Kise cried and clung desperately to a choked Midorima, trying to fend away Murasakibara.

"Captain, can we let Kise-kun live and make him run to Aomine-kun's house instead?" Kuroko asked.

"Ok, we'll let the blonde kid live. Someone go outside and buy Murasakibara some chips to occupy him." When no one made a move, Nijimura sighed. "I'm not going to continue until the person who goes out gets back."

Akashi stood up. "I'll go. Murasakibara, stop harassing Kise. He's not edible, unfortunately. Let's get you some snacks quickly."

"Hn… ok, Aka-chin. Can we get bacon-flavored chips?"

"If it is available."

Soon enough, Murasakibara and Akashi came back, the former looking docile and not giving Kise a side glance. Kise, however, did not take any chances and instead, squeezed himself beside Haizaki, ignoring the protest of the latter.

"Ryouta, get off!"

"No!"

For all intents and purposes, the first little pig did not get eaten and instead, he ran all the way to the second little pig's house.

The next day, the wolf walked further along the road. He came to the house of sticks which the second little pig had built. When the second little pig saw the wolf coming, he ran inside his house and shut the door.

"No I didn't," Aomine argued. "I'm not running away just because it was Murasakibara trying to eat me. The only one who can eat me is me!"

"… Aomine-kun, you're an idiot. That makes no sense at all," Kuroko said. Midorima sighed as he grabbed Aomine's shirt so the latter won't pounce on Kuroko.

"You're all idiots, nanodayo."

The wolf knocked on the door and said, "Little pig, little pig, let me come in."

"No, no," said the little pig. "By the hair of my chinny chin chin, I will not let you come in."

Akashi furrowed his brow. He honestly couldn't see Aomine saying those lines. Maybe Kise, but not Aomine. Still, he didn't comment and let the captain continue.

So he huffed and he puffed and he huffed and he puffed. The house of sticks fell down and the wolf ate up the second little pig… or well, he didn't and instead, the two pigs managed to run away to the third little pig's house, the first little pig dragging the second little pig away because the latter is too stupid for self preservation and wanted to fight the wolf.

"I'm sorry, but we're not taking visitors," Kuroko said, eyeing Aomine then at Kise. "The spare room is for (L.name)-senpai."

"Just let them in, Kuroko, please," Nijimura sighed. "I'm sure Akashi made sure the house was big enough for everyone."

"You know me too well, captain," Akashi replied approvingly. "I do my tasks with nothing but the best. For I am absolute."

The next day the wolf walked further along the road. He came to the house of bricks which the third little pig had built. When the third little pig saw the wolf coming, he ran inside his house and shut the door. The wolf knocked on the door and said, "Little pig, little pig, let me come in."

"Coming," Kuroko answered, ignoring the disbelieving look of Aomine and Kise.

Murasakibara let out a pleased hum. "Thank you, Kuro-chin~!"

Nijimura whacked both first years on the head. "You two are the bigger idiots. Kuroko, you're not supposed to let the wolf enter."

"Ah, my apologies, captain. Murasakibara-kun was simply polite in asking so I could not help myself."

"Let's not get eaten, Kuroko," Akashi said, frowning ever so slightly. "Remember that this is my abode and I'm the only one who has the say who can enter or not. Murasakibara is certainly not allowed to enter."

"Hnn… so mean. I think I'll just go crush your house."

… so the wolf tried to crush the house. Unfortunately, the house was strong because it was built with bricks and the wolf only got a sore hand… paw? Whatever.

The wolf was very angry. He said, "Little pigs, I am going to eat you up. I am going to climb down your chimney to get you."

"Mmm, bacon.."

"Murasakibara-kun, please stop looking at me like that."

The little pigs were very frightened, but they said nothing. The third little pig put a big pot of water on the fire, to boil. The wolf climbed on the roof. Then he began to come down the chimney. The third little pig took off the lid from the pot. Into the pot fell the wolf, with a big splash.

And that was the end for the wolf.

"Hn.. I don't like it," Murasakibara pouted. "Why am I the only one who died? And I didn't get to have bacon, as promised."

The wolf, actually, didn't die. Instead, he got a nice hot bath. He was so happy and grateful at the third little pig that he decided not to eat pigs again and instead, lived in the house as well.

"Better," Murasakibara smiled lazily. "Thank you captain~!"

"That was a really lame ending," Kise said, pouting this time. "Did the first little pig get to rebuild his house of straw? I don't want to live with Akashicchi."

"Hmph, at least you have an ending, nanodayo. My only use in this story is to carry an assorted range of items."

"… but Midorima-kun, that's what you always do. You carry an assorted range of items," Kuroko replied. That was the last straw for Midorima, no pun intended, and he chased after Kuroko who bolted away as well.

Akashi ignored the other's antics. "What happened to (L.name)-senpai?" he asked. "Surely we came back for her, right?"

Nijimura shut the book and didn't answer Akashi. "I'm gonna look for (F.name). Meeting's dismissed."

"Can I come in?"

"Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin, Shuu-kun."

"… very witty, (F.name)."

You laughed as you open the door and let Nijimura in. You were at the student council room, finishing up some reports that Akashi left for you to take care off. You followed Nijimura as he sank on the couch. You sat beside him. "So how did it go?" you asked curiously.

"More or less a success," he replied. He brought his arms out and hooked it over your shoulders, making you lean on him. He rested his head on your hair. "They still fought but they were behaved on the most part. Oh, and I kind of promised them that you'd prepare lunch for them tomorrow if they do it. It's amazing how they complied so easily."

You chuckled. "It's ok. I'll go make lunch for everyone tomorrow." You laced your hand to his and and squeezed it. "Thank you, Shuu-kun."

"Don't thank me. Honestly, I should be thank you instead," he mumbled. He shifted and pressed his lips on your forehead. He exhaled deeply. "They weren't really fighting now, which is all I could ever ask for the team. Hopefully, this would at least last until championships. I don't think we can afford another break."

"I believe in them," you whispered back. "They're gonna be all right. You shouldn't worry so much. You're a great captain."

"About that…" Nijimura leaned away, looking guilty. "I was thinking.. maybe I should step down as captain."

"What?" the disbelief in your voice made it less like a question. You bit your lip. "Is this about your dad?"

"… yeah."

"Oh, Shuu-kun…" You hugged him tight and you felt him shake in your arms. You squeezed his hand tighter reassuringly. "I'm really sorry."

"I just don't think I could commit to basketball as much as a leader could, not when pop's in the hospital." He let a laugh, although it came out completely empty. "I'm so tempted to ditch school right now."

"No, you will not," you replied sternly. "Nijimura Shuuzo, your father will be very disappointed in you if you ever do that, ok?"

"You sounded like my mom, right now."

You smiled sadly. "Is that a bad thing?"

Nijimura shook his head. "It's the one thing I need to hear. Keeps me on the ground, you know?"

"Then I'll make sure you don't run off on me."

The two of you were silent as he just holds you tight. You never saw Nijimura looking so unsure. It reminded you how he's just still a kid, how you both are just kids and things like this get so overwhelming.

"(F.name)..?"

You looked up and saw him looking back at you. "Yes, Shuu-kun?" you said.

He leaned and kissed your lips chastely, lingering for a moment. "I'm gonna come back for you, I promise." He didn't wait for your reply and simply opted to hug you again. You hugged back. Maybe, what he just said was something he didn't need a response. It was a statement, not a question.

It was just strange though, the words… why does Nijimura need to come back when he's already here? Suddenly, the thought of Nijimura ending the embrace made you afraid that you unconsciously held tighter.

You'd take what you'd get but you're not quite ready if Nijimura wasn't part of what you're getting.
Dun dun duuun~!
I can't help but feel satisfied after typing that last paragraph. The goal here is to write an ending for this series of oneshots but at the same time, set the tone for the beginning of the multi-chapter story I'll be writing for this universe. In other words, this story serves as a bridge and a cliff-hanger. Ohohoho~! *dodges the tomatoes*
It has a sad note, yes? I was aiming for forboding at the beginning, make it a bit light and humorous in the middle, and in the end, leave it with a happy-sad kind of feeling. A feeling of being missed, kind of like that. *dodges more tomatoes*
I swear I don't intend anyone to feel hanging
Also, you guys have no idea how hard it is to write ten characters interacting back and forth without anyone getting left behind.

The multi-chapter story will be titled "It's ok, that's Love" and the first chapter will be posted sometime on the first week of June. Let's look forward to it together, yes? ^^

Thank you for reading and sticking with me. I am truly humbled and honored to have such supportive readers. Comments are loved <3

NEW READER HERE! I seriously love this mini series. Ghaaaad. I love the Rainbow miracles so much and Nijimura. I'm glad that you give light to Nijimura's character. Niji and R-chan are soo cute along with their babies lolol
I can't stop laughing while the miracles kept interrupting Nijimura. I can't believe their sooooo into the story like a baby/toddler ;w;
I really really like this kind of atmosphere between the Miracles, no angst just fluffy fluff fluff.

Anyways, the ending part tho! It will be the start of their broken friendship :(

You're a great writer! Clap Clap
